Welcome To Chief Electoral Officer of Arunachal Pradesh
The political system, which is similar to other states of India, ensures that the State is governed by elected representatives. The State has a unicameral Legislature consisting of 60 members. Arunachal Pradesh is represented by 2 members in the Lok Sabha and by 1 member in the Rajya Sabha. The State has a unicameral legislature, called the Arunachal Legislative Assembly. The Legislative Assembly consists of Members elected directly by the people from Assembly constituencies in the State. The Legislative Assembly chooses two members to be the Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively. The Speaker and, in his absence the Deputy Speaker, presides over the proceedings of the Legislative Assembly. The Legislative Assembly has a separate secretariat staff. The Assembly is responsible for the legislation of the State according to the powers vested on it and for such matters as is provided in the Constitution.
